I grew up in a small-town Christian home. All I ever knew of religious safety and security were tied up in the beliefs of one church denomination. Throughout my life, I had struggled with fluctuations in depression and anxiety and spent years spiritualizing it and trying to pray it away. Counseling was frowned upon by some of my family and church leaders, and in turn, I had developed some of my own underlying fears about it. But finally, out of desperation, I reached out for help. I had reached the point where I was constantly anxious and depressed and had developed a number of associated physical symptoms. I was full of guilt and shame that my marriage was falling apart and had become disillusioned that God was so silent about it. I was also on the brink of taking my own life. Eventually, after years of personal therapy and coaching, I was able to find new hope and direction. One of the most important pieces of the process for me was learning to recognize the emotional and spiritual safety level in people and set appropriate boundaries. This changed the course of my life and relationships for the better and I am passionate about helping others develop these same skills!
I've been a registered nurse since 2009 but have always had an interest counseling and mental health. In the midst of my own personal pain and struggle in healing from several forms of trauma, one of my counselors introduced me to life coaching. I enrolled in a life coaching program and obtained my certification in 2019.
The foundational pillars of my coaching are honesty, safety, and love. I believe in working with you to create strategies that align with your values that will help you navigate unhealthy situations and move you toward growth and healing.
My coaching is not specific to any denomination or religion but may resonate best with those who are familiar with Christian teachings and principles, especially if you have been deeply harmed by them or the people who teach them. Maybe you're even questioning the validity of those teachings and your belief in God. No matter where you've come from or where you are going, your story matters. You matter. I'm here to listen.
